Looking to relocate to the Metrowest area from Malden. Have a young child and interested in the Stow/Acton/Maynard area. Clearly, Maynard has the best prices and what seems like a lot of inventory. Schools are questionable, especially given the great school district in Acton/Boxborough, but housing prices are quite a bit higher. Everyone seems to be leaving Maynard, what is the real deal? A diamond in the rough or stick to a sure thing. Living the last 10 years in Malden, we are well aware that "up and coming" can be a very long process.

Dear Anonymous,

Maynard has the best prices and lots of activities. As for schools, while test scores may not be as high as the surrounding towns (that is really all I can talk about) but I hear that lot the parents like the schools and are very involved. It all depends on your price range and the tradeoffs you are willing to make. I would be happy to help you find a home in the area and you can make your own decision about which schools are best for your children. Feel free to drop a note to marilynmessenger@realtor.com
